Chamberlin Mills Road in Salem, New York (Actually West Hebron, NY) is chock-full of nature. There are many animals on Chamberlin Mill Road in Salem NY.
At least one nesting-pair of bald eagles – the photo above may be part of that or possible a single looking for a mate.
I have also once seen a fisher cat (sorry, no pic) on the hill behind my house. “Fisher cats” are a misnomer. They refer to the animal known as a fisher, which is a carnivorous mammal in the weasel family (Mustelidae). While they share some physical similarities with cats, like retractable claws and a long tail, they are not related to cats and are also not known for eating fish. The name “fisher cat” is a regional colloquialism, particularly in New England, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
I have also seen – on at least two occasions (in Salem, NY) the elusive otter puss, who also share some physical simalarities with cats – even more so than the fisher discussed above.

Above show a visit from three resident ducks from the pond up the street.

Young Buck Visting On Chamberlin Mills Road in Salem NY
A few years back this nice looking deer was around the house for about a week. We think he may have lost his mother. Deer abound on Chamberlin Mills Road.

A nice looking musk rat up the street under the bridge. You never know what you’ll find under the bridge. Fish, ducks, turtles.
